In these upcoming series of posts, I will give my personal opinion about how one can go about such a thing. These thoughts form a collection of strategy heuristics which you could potentially use to consider all the aspects involved in building a modern data consultancy. These heuristics would equally apply for consultancies acting with external clients (à la service industry style) or for an internal analytics division servicing an organization. The topics to be discussed will include:

  • The basic three types of data consultancies (Augmentors, Specialists and Brokers).
  • The basic roles involved with each type.
  • The Augmentor’s business strategy.
  • The Specialist’s business strategy.
  • The Broker’s business strategy.
  • Systemizing and automating Hiring, Evaluations and Promotions.
